A new crisis has arisen in front of the BJP in Karnataka.

Former minister Janardhana Reddy, who is angry with BJP, has formed a new party by breaking two decades old relationship with BJP.

Reddy faces allegations of illegal mining.

Janardhana Reddy has named his new party as "Kalyana Rajya Pragati Party".

    Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that he will discuss the issue with the leadership when he goes to New Delhi on Monday.

  • Janardhan Reddy said, "Despite BJP leaders saying that I am not a member of the party and I have no relation with the party.

    The people of the state and here accepted that I belong to that party.

    This assumption turned out to be false. 

  • Janardhana Reddy said, today I am announcing 'Kalyana Rajya Pragati Paksha'.

    Which with my own thinking, with the thinking of Basavanna (12th century social reformer), is against divisive politics in the name of religion and caste.

  • Reddy said, “I have never failed in any new initiative in my life so far.

    That's why I am sure of getting their blessings by going among the people with Kalyan Rajya Pragati Paksha and there is no doubt that Karnataka will become a welfare state in future.

  • Before the 2018 state assembly elections, the then national president of BJP, Amit Shah, while answering the question of journalists, said that "BJP has nothing to do with Janardhana Reddy".

    Reddy said, “I have built a house in Gangavathi and got my name enrolled in the voter list there.

    I will contest from there.

  • Explain that Reddy, accused in the illegal mining case worth crores of rupees, is on bail since 2015.

    The Supreme Court had imposed several conditions in its order, including a ban on his going to Ballari in Karnataka and Anantapur and Cuddapah in Andhra Pradesh.

  • Reddy was also politically inactive for many years after being accused in the mining scam.

    He campaigned only for his friend, the current minister B. Sriramulu, in the 2018 assembly elections.
