The head of the French Parliament's Committee on National Defense and the Armed Forces, Tom Gassilhoud, noted that Russia is a large country that receives significant profits from natural resources, and it also has a lot of Soviet weapons.

The French official said this in an exclusive interview with TSN.ua.

"Russia is a transcontinental power that profits from a significant amount of natural resources and has a colossal number of weapons and ammunition inherited from the Cold War," he said.

However, as he emphasized,

the aggressor country is isolated politically and economically.

According to him, the Russian budget was badly affected by 9 packages of EU sanctions introduced on February 24.

"However, politically, Russia is very isolated. The Russian economy has suffered greatly from European sanctions, and on December 16, the EU adopted its 9th package of sanctions, which further expands the scope of current sanctions and restrictive measures. Russia is trying to circumvent Western sanctions, but the Europeans, and the West in general are aware of this. That is why President Macron worked so hard at the G20 to get India and China to clearly condemn the war and increase pressure on Moscow," he added.

France's support for Ukraine

Recently, France handed over new weapons to Ukraine.

These are Crotale anti-aircraft missile systems that will help protect the Ukrainian sky.

Macron also promised that his country would provide additional weapons and ammunition in the first quarter of 2023.

First of all, we are talking about the new Caesar self-propelled guns.

In addition, France helps Ukrainians by supplying electricity generators.

After the December 5 attack, France handed over 100 high-power generators to Ukraine, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna announced.
