The United States and the European Union have condemned the Taliban's decision to ban women from working in Afghan or foreign non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan.

APA reports that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and representative of the European Foreign Service Nabila Massrali announced this on social networks.

In particular, the United States condemns the Taliban for ordering non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan to stop recruiting women.

"Women are at the center of humanitarian operations around the world.

This decision can be devastating for the people of Afghanistan," said Blinken.

For his part, Massrali called the Taliban's ban on Twitter "another serious restriction on the ability of Afghan women to exercise their rights and a clear violation of humanitarian principles."

"This will affect our future assistance," Massrali stressed.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also expressed deep concern about the announcement of the ban.
