The State Duma proposes raising taxes for Russians who fled the country.

Such a proposal was expressed by the head of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin.

"There are those who believe that it is necessary to give preferences and benefits to those who leave our country so that they return. This is not correct. It is quite clear why they fled," he wrote in his telegram.

Volodin believes that those who "realized their mistake" have already returned to the Russian Federation, and the rest are traitors.

"The rest must understand: the majority of the society does not support their act — they believe that they betrayed their country, family and friends," said a Russian official.

He added that today those who left "not only work in Russian companies remotely, but also use all the benefits" that Russia gives them.

However, according to Volodin, this must be stopped.

"It is correct to cancel the preferences for those who left the Russian Federation and introduce a higher tax rate for them. This will be fair. We are working on the appropriate changes to the legislation," wrote Volodin.

Earlier, Russia announced plans to ban remote work for those who fled abroad, in particular, after the announcement of mobilization.

We will remind you that Russia has declared that they need to confiscate luxurious property and housing from Russian elites who ignore or do not support military actions in Ukraine for fear of losing their luxurious lifestyle.
