Monuments to Soviet generals Mykola Vatutin and Oleksiy Zygin were covered in red paint

in

Poltava .

This is reported by local mass media.

On the monuments of the Soviet military figure Mykola Vatutin, known for his bloody operations during the Second World War, during which thousands of soldiers died, as well as Oleksiy Zygin, about whom a myth was made that, they say, he liberated Poltava.

(Actually, Zygin was never able to take command of the army - he was blown up by a mine on the way from the airfield to the command post) the words "Evil" appeared in red.

Vasyl Zub, the spokesman of the Poltava regional police department, said that the police are currently checking information on these cases.

It should be noted that on December 23, deputies of the Poltava City Council voted for the dismantling of monuments to Soviet figures.

But they did not have enough votes to get rid of the Soviet legacy, which not only does not allow the country to develop, but also returns it to the past, against which Ukrainian defenders are now fighting.

"

We have to ask ourselves, are we living in the Soviet Union or independent Ukraine.

The history of modern Ukraine is an analogy with that Ukraine, which was called the Ukrainian People's Republic and now we are fighting against Russia, as in the time of the Ukrainian People's Republic. We have identical parallels with those times. What Muravyov , who destroyed our boys in Kruty, Vatutin, and Zygin are the occupiers who went to destroy the Ukrainian People's Republic. Therefore, there cannot be any occupiers in the city, there cannot be any monuments to them. These are the people who enslaved our state and we lost one hundred years of its history," said MP Yulian Matviychuk.

The mayor of Poltava Oleksandr Mamai explains this situation as follows: "The Vatutin monument stood in the Cadet Corps all its life. Then this monument was erased from history. Then we found it and put it on the corner of Sobornosti and Vatutin streets. I personally took an active part in this . As for the monument to Zygin, to this day there is not a single document left from the Soviet Union about this monument. Therefore, we have no right to demolish it. After all, first all the documents must be made for it, and then the decision to demolish it must be made."

We will remind, in a village in the Poltava region ,

a monument to Lenin

, which was located on the territory of one of the local educational institutions, was demolished.

Earlier

in the Poltava region, a monument dedicated to "fighters for Soviet power" was demolished.
