Notorious criminal Charles Sobhraj is known as Bikini Killer.

After being in jail in Nepal for 19 years, he was sent directly to the capital of France, Paris, on 23 December on the order of Nepal's top court.

Shobhraj, the son of French origin of Indian and Vietnamese parents, has also lived in Tihar Jail before being imprisoned in Nepal Jail.

Charles created a sensation by escaping from Tihar Jail, which is considered to be India's most secure.

After this he was arrested in Goa.

The arrester was Inspector Madhukar Jhende of Mumbai Police.

Madhukar Jhende is the only person who caught Sobhraj not once but twice.

Madhukar Jhande has now retired but even today he keeps an eye on every news of Charles Sobhraj.

Madhukar Jhende, who retired from the post of ACP, told that he had caught Charles Sobhraj for the first time in 1971.

He had received information that Charles Sobhraj along with his accomplices had come to Mumbai to rob the cash counter of Air India.

He used to stay at Taj Hotel only.

Madhukar Zende arrested him and then Charles Sobhraj was kept in Tihar Jail.

But, on the pretext of his birthday party, he put the jail inmates and security personnel to sleep by feeding them drugs in the cake and escaped with his 16 companions.

After this incident sensation had spread in the country.

Everyone was discussing this incident.

Finally, in 1986, Charles Sobhraj once again got caught in the hands of Madhukar Jhande in Goa.

On the release of Charles Sobhraj, Madhukar Jhende said that he is very vicious.

He has no regrets for his actions.

Leaving him even at the age of 76 is a danger to the society.

Known as the 'Bikini Killer', Sobhraj was serving a life sentence in a Kathmandu jail since 2003 in connection with the murder of American woman Connie Jo Bronjic in Nepal in 1975.

He was convicted of the murder of Canadian tourist Laurent Carrier in 2014 and given a second life sentence.

Life sentence in Nepal means 20 years of imprisonment.
