From January 1, 2023, new transport documents in the Metropolitan City Transport, the so-called electronic transfer tickets, will come into force.

For 1 BGN and 60 cents you will be able to travel with a "30+" ticket.

For BGN 2 and 20 cents you will be able to travel for "60+" minutes.

The monthly card for one line is canceled.

A paper ticket can be bought from the driver of the vehicle, but it will cost BGN 2.

If you do not validate your ticket or travel card, you are subject to a fine of BGN 3, informed the director of the Center for Urban Mobility Dimitar Dilchev, quoted by BNT.

"At the same price of BGN 1.60 as before, we will be able to use more public transport.

I want to emphasize that these are electronic tickets.

The normal plastic that we all know at a price of BGN 3 and ultra light at a price of BGN 0.80, on which you can load your tickets for 30 or 60 minutes with the possibility of transferring.

It is still possible to use the usual paper ticket for BGN 1.60 in the metro, but it will entitle you, as before, to only one trip and only in the metro.

Anyone who has bought a paper ticket to date is entitled to use it until March 1st, so I'm hoping for a smooth, gradual transition to the new electronic transfer tickets, which are undeniably much better value for anyone who decides to travel incidentally'.

The paper ticket for public transport in Sofia remains in history

The annual card for all lines of the capital's public transport retains its value of BGN 365.

The debit card also becomes a transfer ticket.
