Al Qaeda released video of its allegedly killed chief al-Zawahiri.

Cairo:

According to Reuters,

Al Qaeda has released a 35-minute recording claiming that the voice in the recording is of Ayman al-Zawahiri.

Ayman al-Zawahiri is believed to have been killed in a US strike in August 2022.

The date of recording is not known.

It is said that Zawahiri was killed in the US attack in Afghanistan.

It was the biggest blow to the terrorist group since its founder Osama bin Laden was killed in 2011. A senior US administration official said Zawahiri had been in hiding for years and the operation to track him down and kill him was a difficult task for intelligence agencies. "Careful, patient and persistent work had the result.

Al Qaeda has yet to name its successor, but Saif al-Adel, a mysterious, low-key former special forces officer from Egypt, is seen by experts as a top contender.

Saif is a high ranking member of Al Qaeda.

The United States is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to its capture.
