The plan announced by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to increase the number of the army to 1.5 million people may mean a signal to NATO and the countries of the West that Russia is not going to stop the war.

This opinion was expressed on Channel 24 by the head of the Center for Military Legal Research, military expert Oleksandr Musienko.

According to him, the plan to increase the size of the Russian army is a medium-term perspective, while the Kremlin is currently planning to recruit contract workers.

The expert believes that this is done in order to give a signal to the West and NATO that Russia will not stop aggression, as well as to show how many resources the Russian Federation has in terms of weapons, ammunition, supplies, and payments.

"Theoretically, they can find people, but provision and resources are unknown. Especially considering all the losses," Musienko added.

The military expert noted that in the short term, the threat to Ukraine is more posed by the mobilized.

"There are signs that Russia continues to mobilize, but covertly and with less information coverage. It continues, subpoenas continue to be sent," he noted.

We will remind, earlier the head of the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor state Serhiy Shoigu said that it is necessary to increase the size of the Russian army to 1.5 million people.

At the same time, there should be at least 670,000 contract soldiers in the one and a half million army.
