The European Union will suspend most of the funding for

Hungary

.

After all, Budapest does not fulfill the conditions that would ensure the independence of the judicial system, academic freedoms and the asylum system.

This was reported by Reuters.

It is emphasized that the European Commission has reached a general agreement with Budapest on financing.

However, the main part - 22 billion euros, cannot yet be paid.

Because Viktor Orbán's government will not fulfill a number of conditions regarding the rule of law, which in particular is related to the judicial system and the fight against corruption at high levels.

Brussels also notes that some payments will be suspended because of a law on discrimination against people based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.

By the way, 22 billion euros are funds that are intended for programs related to education for disadvantaged children, modernization of railway transport, access to broadband and assistance to regions affected by the closure of coal-fired power plants.

Meanwhile, the Financial Times writes that it has been fighting with Brussels for a long time because of its own problems with the rule of law.

This reputation of Hungary threatens the fair and transparent distribution of EU taxpayers' money.

It will be recalled that the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor

Orban, accused Europe of interfering in the war in Ukraine

.

Like, a large part of Europe is already at war because it sends money and weapons to Ukraine or trains Ukrainian soldiers.
