Russian President Vladimir Putin is moving to a defensive war strategy in Ukraine due to the failure to achieve the stated goals of the so-called "special military operation."

He told about it in an exclusive comment

TSN.ua

military expert

Petro Chernyk

, commenting on Putin's statement about his reluctance to "spin the flywheel of a military conflict".

According to the expert, two main points can be highlighted in the statement of the President of the Russian Federation.

"The first point - the signal that Putin gives shows that they are moving from an offensive strategy to a defensive one.

They have not achieved the strategic goal of eliminating Ukrainian statehood and will not achieve it. They have realized that they have fallen into a trap, and they do not know how to get out of this trap

. This signal that they allegedly do not want to continue anything is a signal not to us, but to the collective West - they say that we need to find some common ground in order to bring the Russians and Ukrainians to the negotiating table and find a way out of this situation. This is unacceptable for us." - explained Chernyk.

According to him, "the very

fact of rhetoric, that Putin moved to such a conversation, is a sign of their strategic weakness

."

"The second moment is that they are trapped. This is a constant. We ask the question - how can they get out? To be honest, I myself cannot understand what they need to do to reach this point of negotiations.

They are well aware that if a classic defeat in Ukraine, and it will happen, it's only a matter of time and circumstances, Putin will most likely lose his life, and Russia will be on the path of disintegration

," the expert said.

According to Chernyk, the Russians "have only one logical argument left - to drag out this war as long as possible in the expectation that we, Ukrainians, will be exhausted, sooner or later the cards will fall on their side, and there will be some separate negotiations."

It will be recalled that Russian President

Vladimir Putin

suddenly announced at a press conference on December 22 that he does not want to "spin the flywheel of a military conflict."

At the same time, the head of the Kremlin announced his readiness to sit down at the negotiating table and accused Ukraine of unwillingness to negotiate.

The Russian dictator also noted that the intensification of hostilities in Ukraine "leads to unjustified losses."

Analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War concluded that Putin is preparing the Russians for a protracted, exhausting war in Ukraine.

In turn, the Armed Forces believe that a protracted war will in any case play against the Russian Federation, as it will have a negative impact on the mood in society.

As a result, a systemic crisis may arise in Russia.
