Of the said amount, almost 45 billion dollars will be used to provide emergency aid to Ukraine and US allies in NATO.

We are talking about the largest package of aid to Ukraine that has ever been accepted in the United States.

9 billion of these funds will go to the Ukrainian military for various needs, 13 billion will go to the economic support of Ukraine.

Another 12 billion will not be transferred directly to Kiev, but will be used to replenish the stockpile of weapons and equipment previously transferred by the United States to Ukraine.

The remaining amount will be used for humanitarian programs and funding for the US military command in Europe.

Among other things, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who recently spoke in Washington in front of American legislators, asked Congress to allocate these funds.

The bill is expected to be passed, although many Republicans in the House of Representatives are in favor of delaying its consideration until January, when the composition of the lower house of Congress will change and they will have a majority in it.

During the consideration of the bill in the Senate, an amendment to it was adopted, which simplifies the use of funds confiscated from Russian oligarchs, who were under sanctions, to provide assistance to Ukraine.

According to an amendment proposed by a group of senators and congressmen from both parties, the State Department will distribute these funds.

At the same time, the amendment does not directly describe the mechanism of confiscation of funds.

Now they are only frozen.

Both houses of Congress this week passed another bill related to the war in Ukraine.

It allows the US Department of Justice to bring war crimes charges against any individual, regardless of where the alleged crimes were committed.

The current American law provides that such persecution is possible only if the victims are US citizens.

The document is sent to President Joe Biden for signature.

Both the representatives of his administration and members of the Congress have repeatedly accused Russia of committing war crimes in Ukraine.
