[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] In the 2023 fiscal year of the United States, the "National Defense Authorization Act" (NDAA), the high-profile content includes the "free" provision of US$10 billion in military aid to Taiwan in the next five years, and the accelerated processing of Taiwan's military purchase needs.

After the House of Representatives and the Senate passed it on the 8th and 15th respectively, US President Biden signed the legislation on Friday local time.

"CNN" reported that Biden issued a statement after signing, emphasizing that the bill provides vital interests and channels for strengthening justice for military practitioners and their families, and also includes key points to support national defense, foreign affairs and homeland security authorized.

The NDAA requires Taiwan to provide support in the face of Chinese threats, authorizing the U.S. government to provide Taiwan with up to $2 billion a year in free military aid through the State Department's "Foreign Military Financing" (FMF) program between 2023 and 2027; A $2 billion FMF loan with a repayment period of 12 years.

The NDAA also requires the State Department and the Ministry of Defense to prioritize and expedite the processing of Taiwan's military purchase needs, and not to delay processing on the grounds of package sales, and calls for Taiwan to be invited to participate in the 2024 Pacific Rim military exercise.

In terms of domestic affairs in the United States, the provisions of the NDAA will strengthen the defense capabilities and cyber security of the US air and ground battlefields; the basic salary of military personnel will be increased by 4.6%, the largest increase in 20 years.

Civilian employees of the Department of Defense also get the same increase.
