An angry man set the shop on fire after the shop owner allegedly misbehaved with his daughter who went shopping at a bakery in Vishnupuram in Kerala's Cheranalur.

The police gave this information on Friday. The incident took place on Wednesday and the person and the bakery owner have been arrested and taken on remand in separate cases in connection with the incident.

According to the police, the bakery owner Baburaj (52) allegedly misbehaved with the girl when she was collecting groceries from the shop on Wednesday evening.

Police said that when the girl told her father about the incident, the man reached the shop in anger and set the shop on fire in the night.

He told that the shop has suffered heavy damage due to the fire.

Baburaj's wife was at the shop when the man sprinkled petrol on it and set it on fire, causing minor injuries. The shop owner has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

The girl's father has also been arrested on the basis of the complaint of the bakery owner's wife. Police said that the local court has sent both of them on remand.
