Russian President Vladimir Putin says he aims to end the war with Ukraine as quickly as possible.

Moscow:

Russia on Thursday accused Ukraine and the US of not listening to its concerns, and also accused the US of using Ukraine as a battleground to weaken Russia.

This statement has come at a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin has been insisting that Russia's goal is to end the ongoing war with Ukraine quickly.

Vladimir Putin told reporters, "Our goal is ... to end this conflict ... we are working hard for that ... we will see that it ends, and the sooner the better." ..."

Putin said, "All conflicts end, one way or another, through dialogue... The sooner our adversaries (in Ukraine) realize this, the better..."

Meanwhile, the Russian military chief said the Russian army is now focusing on retaking control of the eastern Donetsk region, where the city of Bakhmut has become the epicenter of the battle.

On the other hand, officials sitting in Moscow have said repeatedly in recent months that they are not ruling out talks with Ukraine.

He blamed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has said he will not hold talks with Putin's Russia, for the diplomatic roadblock.

Ukraine's president has just returned from a historic trip to the US, where he told the US Congress that his country is "alive, active...", and that supporting it is like investing in global security.

Zelensky was greeted as a hero on a visit to the United States, during which US President Joe Biden promised Ukraine about US$1.8 billion in military supplies, and the Patriot missile defense system for the first time.

Vladimir Putin has warned that this could further escalate the conflict.

"People are doing this, it will not be of any benefit... It is just prolonging the struggle, that's all," he told reporters.

Earlier, the Kremlin also said that Biden and Zelensky were not paying attention to 'Russia's concerns'.
