Roman Svitan, a military expert, a reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and pilot-instructor Roman Svitan believes that the liberation of occupied Crimea will begin before the end of 2022.

He said this in a comment to "Radio NV"

"We constantly see in the reports of our General Staff that Kakhovka and Novaya Kakhovka are being studied by army artillery. And this indicates that certain actions are being prepared to clear the agglomeration. From Novaya Kakhovka to Armyansk, to Crimea, it is a little more than 70 km, one tank transition. Crimea is waiting for us. And Crimea is waiting for us this year," Svitan explained.

Annexed Crimea: what is known

In 2014, Russia illegally annexed the Ukrainian Crimea and held a fake "referendum" there for joining it.

All these years, Ukraine sought to return the peninsula diplomatically, but Russia started a full-scale war on February 24.

Then, for the first time, they talked about the liberation of Crimea by military means.

The head of Ukrainian military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, believes that the occupied Crimea will be liberated by military means.

It will happen in 2023.

President Zelenskyi announced in December that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not yet developing operations to liberate Crimea, but Ukrainians want to return the illegally annexed territories.

Previously, military expert Roman Svitan explained that Crimea will become a continuous zone of hostilities, since the Russians will not return Ukrainian territory just like that.
