Military expert Oleg Zhdanov explained how the firepower of artillery and aviation differs and explained whether Western artillery can replace aircraft in Ukraine.

He explained this on his YouTube channel.

"It is very difficult to compare. In general, aviation is considered more powerful, because it has a much larger missile and bomb load. Therefore, accordingly, due to its number, it can cause carpet bombing and burn entire areas. At the same time, rocket artillery can also, but its ammunition have a smaller amount of explosives," Zhdanov said.

According to him, HIMARS has 90 kg of explosives.

And attack aircraft can carry 100, 150, 200-kilogram aerial bombs.

"On the other hand, jet artillery can "cover" an area with 12 shells at once. And an airplane can hit one object. Therefore, it is very difficult to compare here. Aviation is considered stronger if we talk about group strikes. If we talk about single strikes, then here the question is controversial. And in the range of application, aviation prevails if there is a possibility to overcome the enemy's anti-aircraft defense," the expert noted.

Zhdanov noted that the current war shows that front-line aviation is used exclusively on the front line.

Now, in fact, none of the sides flies over the front line and fires strikes from the controlled territory.

It will be recalled that the head of the White House, Joe Biden, confirmed the transfer of Patriot systems to Ukraine and announced new aid.

He also answered whether the transfer of Patriot air defense systems could lead to an even greater escalation from the Russian Federation.

According to the American media, President Zelensky could ask the US for F-16 fighter jets at a meeting with Joe Biden.
