Deputies adopted in the first reading a bill on compensating the costs of motor fuel users, proposed by Delyan Dobrev

Delyan Dobrev is the Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism (department: (PG GERB-SDS) and a group of people's representatives. 166 people's representatives voted in support, six were against, and 42 abstained.

It introduces a sustainable mechanism for adequate compensation of the high prices of motor fuels, as they are one of the drivers of inflation in the country.

In their reasons, the importers state that the refinery in Bulgaria "Lukoil Neftohim Burgas" mainly processes Russian oil grade "Urals".

With the start of the war in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions on commercial transactions with Russian oil, the price of the grade has fallen significantly compared to Brent oil.

Delyan Dobrev: In this National Assembly, there is the same Lukoil coalition as in the previous one

Measures need to be taken to turn cheap Russian oil into cheap fuel for consumers, importers believe, and suggest introducing a levy on Russian oil refiners.

The contribution will be collected from the Power System Security Fund and the proceeds will be used to compensate all consumers, including commercial consumers.

The funds collected from the contribution are expected to be transferred to the National Revenue Agency and the current order of compensating consumers will be continued.
