PVK "Wagner" received a shipment of weapons from North Korea for Russian troops in the war against Ukraine, which indicates the expansion of the company's role in this conflict.
This was reported by Reuters with reference to an anonymous high-ranking official in the US President's administration.
"We can confirm that North Korea has completed the initial
supply of weapons to Wagner, which paid for the equipment.
Last month, North Korea delivered anti-personnel missiles and rockets to Russia for use by Wagner," a US official said.
Taking into account the available intelligence data, the United States believes that the amount of equipment delivered by North Korea
will not change the dynamics of hostilities
in Ukraine.
"But we are concerned that North Korea is planning to deliver more military equipment to Wagner," a Pentagon official said.
According to weapons experts, the
DPRK has created ballistic missiles
capable of hitting almost any point on Earth.
It is also reported about the creation of shorter-range weapons.
US officials say that Pyongyang's supply of weapons is a direct violation of UN Security Council resolutions, so the US plans to raise this issue at a meeting of the organization.
An American official told the newspaper that the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir
Putin, is increasingly turning to the "Wagner" PMC for help
for Russian troops in Ukraine.
The official also said that the owner of the company Yevhen Prigozhin spends more than 100 million dollars.
per month to finance "Wagner" operations in Ukraine.
According to US estimates, the "Wagner" PMC has 50,000 people in Ukraine, including 10,000 contractors and 40,000 convicts recruited from Russian prisons.
It will be recalled that at the beginning of November, the White House announced that North Korea was secretly supplying Russia with a significant number of artillery shells.
Pyongyang is trying to hide this and pass it off as the supply of weapons to the countries of the Middle East or North Africa.
