[Reporter Yang Guowen/Taipei Report] Zhao Jieyou, the son of Zhao Yingguang, the former judge of the DPP’s Taipei City Party Committee, was accused of being the driver of a fraudulent syndicate. He was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison for 47 crimes including regulations, organized crime, and fraud.

The high court still sentenced Zhao 47 crimes in the second instance, but considering the reconciliation between Zhao and the two defrauded parties, the sentence was reduced by 1 month each, and the remaining 45 crimes were appealed. Therefore, the sentence was slightly reduced compared with the first instance, because the whole case can be appealed to the third instance , so it is not yet determined that the punishment should be executed.

When the police were investigating a telecom fraud case, they discovered that several drivers who assisted the fraudulent group in collecting money were part-time drug dealers. The traceability investigation found that Zhao Jieyou was the driver of the criminal group and was responsible for recruiting younger brothers to be drivers to collect the money. He reported it to the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office for command Investigate.

In April last year, the police seized a large amount of ketamine drugs at Zhao Jieyou's residence. They believed that Zhao was in danger of colluding with the confession and destroying his evidence, so he was detained and banned from seeing him. He continued to find out that Zhao Jieyou was instigated by gangsters and joined fraudulent groups and drug trafficking groups. Groups direct associates to assist in receiving fraudulent payments or drug trafficking.

After the drug-related scandal was exposed, Zhao was expelled from the DPP in July last year and was also prosecuted by the prosecution.

During the trial at the Taipei District Court, Chao Jieyou pleaded guilty, saying that he had no face to see his family and would reflect in prison.

The Taipei District Court reprimanded Zhao Busi for earning money in the right way, and transferring ill-gotten gains through drug trafficking and operating criminal organizations. Several co-defendants were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 2 years to 7 years in April.

Zhao Jieyou and other defendants and the prosecutor refused to accept the verdict and appealed to the High Court.

When the High Court opened the trial, Zhao Jieyou actively sought reconciliation with the parties. Zhao had no opinion on the fact-finding and application of the law in the first-instance judgment, but he appealed because he thought the sentence was too heavy, and expressed regret for the drug-related incident. A very serious mistake", "drugs really harm people's life, I hope my bloody example can wake up some people to stay away from drugs".

Zhao Jieyou pointed out that due to the involvement of the case, his wife had divorced him, and his son was taken care of by the elders of the family. He said with emotion that since his son was only a little over 1 year old when he was taken into custody, he is now over 3 years old... and he has never hugged him again. It is my regret in this life to watch him grow up," and asked him to post bail, or even hug his son in court for five minutes, but they were all rejected.

Zhao Jieyou said that this regret was caused by himself, and he is willing to be responsible for the wrong things he has done to the end. He hopes that his family and society can forgive him who has reformed himself.

Zhao's appointed lawyer argued that Zhao Jieyou's reasons for not aggravating the case had been detailed in the judgment of the first instance, and the prosecution should no longer advocate for increased criminal responsibility on the grounds of repeat offenders.

The co-defendant, Chen Weiyu, confessed to committing fraud, but the sentence in the first trial was too severe, and he did not participate in drug trafficking;
