The ability to enter Crimea and begin the liberation of the peninsula depends on the actions in the south.

This was said by former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko in an interview with OBOZREVATEL.

The general also called the main condition for a successful counteroffensive of the Armed Forces to be effective replenishment of reserves in the period until the army of the aggressor country gathered new forces for the strike.

"I believe that if it is possible to collect reserves in this way and use them effectively, it can at least lead to the liberation of the occupied territories in certain directions in the south and east," he said.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine can come close to Crimea, Romanenko suggested.

At the same time, he noted that the liberation of Crimea is not only a military issue, but also a political one.

"Here it is necessary to think in a military-political way, since, as is known, the Russian Federation's attitude towards Crimea is special. Our allies fear and are trying to prevent the escalation of hostilities with the possible use of weapons of mass destruction by the enemy," he noted.

The general specified that he meant nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.

Let's add that Putin spoke again about nuclear weapons.

The head of the Kremlin is also considering the option of a strike from Belarus, which may turn out to be suicidal for him.
