In Sofia, 43 road signs and damaged poles were removed, reported the Sofia municipality.

The Metropolitan Inspectorate removed old, unusable and dangerous company informational signs.

These unmaintained items pose a potential hazard to passing pedestrians and motorists.

Volunteer equipment was used in the action, the municipality specified.

Poles of the street lighting, of the contact and electric transmission network of the city transport and of road signs were removed.

The initiative covered "Tsarigradsko shosse", "Vladimir Vazov" boulevards, "Todorini Kukli", "Rezbarska", "Vitinya", "McGahan" streets and others.

They found 250 discarded barrels of chemicals in several metropolitan areas

The reason for the action was a report of a dangerously overhanging information sign on "Todor Aleksandrov" Blvd., near the "Serdika" metro station, which was removed with the help of lifting equipment.

Since the beginning of 2022, more than 300 old and unusable, dangerous street signs have been removed in the capital.

Metropolitan inspectors have found waste burning in private properties in the "Serdika", "Vazrazhdane" and "Triaditsa" areas.

Violators have been issued documents and orders with a permanent deadline not to burn waste.

Two more acts were drawn up for dumping a large amount of cartons and pollution with packaging waste in the "Izgrev" and "Serdika" regions.

The Metropolitan Inspectorate reminds citizens to keep packaging to a minimum and dispose of it in containers for separate waste collection.

Businesses that generate packaging waste are obliged to hand it over to contract companies or recovery organizations, and not fill up the waste containers.
