In Canada, the city of Toronto, eight teenage girls were charged with second-degree murder.

They fatally wounded a 59-year-old man with a knife.

This is reported by CBC Toronto.

Girls aged 13-16 are accused of stabbing a man, whose identity has not yet been established, after midnight local time on December 18.

He was living in a homeless shelter at the time of the attack.

Toronto Mayor John Tory said he was "deeply concerned" by the case.

Toronto Police Sergeant Terry Brown told reporters that a group of bystanders called 911 after finding a man with stab wounds.

The victim, who had recently moved to the shelter, later died in hospital.

The girls were detained near the scene of the attack and a number of weapons were seized from them.

As the investigation revealed, the teenagers met on social networks, and three of them had already been detained by the police.

"We don't know how or why they met that evening and why they went to downtown Toronto," the police officer added.

They are believed to have been involved in an argument earlier that evening, he added.

A resident of a nearby homeless shelter said that the girls approached her to ask for alcohol.

A quarrel began between them.

And the man stood up for the woman.

"I didn't know if they had a knife or what. I was just scared," she said.

"I am extremely concerned about the young age of the defendants and the number of people believed to be involved in this murder," Mayor Tory said.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, in the Odesa region, a 26-year-old man brutally killed a 67-year-old deputy director of a school for 70 hryvnias.

And in Kyiv, a 31-year-old man killed and dismembered a 34-year-old friend.

The accused stabbed the victim more than 30 times.
