As Christmas approaches, thousands of Bulgarians flock to Edirne for shopping and spending the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Hotels are 100 percent full.

There are no unoccupied rooms in the boarding houses in the city and in the nearby villages, informed the management of the hotel association.

Reservations in restaurants in Edirne for New Year's Eve are also 90 percent filled by Bulgarians.

"Our chefs are now studying Bulgarian dishes, which we will offer in the New Year's menus.

The performers and DJs will include Bulgarian songs in their repertoires," said Mert Arabadz, manager of a restaurant complex in Edirne.

According to Edirne merchants, about 90 percent of their customers are Bulgarians.

Some come for a day, others stay for two or three days and shop for various goods, BTA informs.

Crazy for shopping: Bulgarians race with shopping carts in Edirne

Due to the high exchange rate of the leva against the background of the devaluation of the Turkish lira, their shopping is cheaper than in Bulgaria.

On the eve of the Christmas holidays, Edirne was decorated with light garlands.
