[Central News Agency] Sources said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may visit Washington DC tomorrow to meet with President Joe Biden and deliver a speech to Congress.

This is Zelensky's first overseas trip known to the outside world since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

Reuters quoted sources as saying that the two leaders, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden, were expected to meet at the White House.

CNN reported that Zelensky's trip coincided with Biden's plan to supply the Kyiv authorities with Patriot missiles to protect Ukraine from Russia's onslaught.

CNN also quoted two sources as saying that Zelensky was already on his way to Washington.

A spokesman for Zelensky did not respond to a request for comment.

According to Zelensky's official itinerary, the last time he left Ukraine was on February 19 this year for the Munich Security Conference (Munich Security Conference).

Zelensky's trip abroad after 10 months of war is expected to include the U.S. Capitol, sources familiar with the matter said on Monday.

Zelensky's trip has not been confirmed and could be forced to change plans due to security concerns, the sources said.

Earlier in the day, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a letter that Congress would convene tomorrow night with a "special focus on democracy."

Agence France-Presse reported that Pelosi did not confirm the visit to the media tonight, but said that a visit by a "complete hero" like Zelensky would "bring glory to the United States Congress".

She said the Ukrainian people "are fighting for democracy for all of us" in their battle against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
