Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has called PM Narendra Modi the "Father of the Nation".

However, later he changed this comment to include Mahatma Gandhi, who is honored as the "Father of the Nation".

During an interview on stage at a program organized by a writers' association in Nagpur this week, Amrita was asked what would Mahatma Gandhi be when she is calling PM Modi the "Father of the Nation".

Answering this question in Marathi, he said, "Mahatma Gandhi is the father of the nation and Modi ji is the father of New India. One from this era and one from that era."

This is not the first time Amrita has used this 'address' for PM Modi.

In a message for PM Modi in the year 2019, he had tweeted, "Many birthday wishes to the father of our country, Narendra Modi, who inspires us to work continuously for the betterment of the society." of our Country Narendra Modi ji a very Happy Birthday — who inspires us to work relentlessly towards the betterment of the society)"

Amruta Fadnavis, who is often in the limelight for her social media posts and public statements, took a dig at the then CM Uddhav Thackeray amid the rebellion in the Shiv Sena this year.

Uddhav had to resign from the post of CM.

He wrote in a tweet (which was later deleted), "Ek Tha Kapti Raja...".

Amrita's reference to 'Raja' and the use of the word "Tha" were linked to Uddhav Thackeray.

Amrita's husband Devendra Fadnavis has been made Deputy Chief Minister after rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
