[Reporter Wen Yude/Taipei Report] A 31-year-old female Chen from Taichung and her husband surnamed Ding had a dispute over the loss of her mother-in-law's "handy money". In the sea, Chen's daughter was rescued and her daughter died.

The Supreme Court upheld the views of previous trials and found that Chen Nu unreasonably deprived her daughter of her precious life and had no remorse. However, considering that she was forgiven by Ding Nan, she was sentenced to 13 years in prison for intentional homicide of children.

On the evening of January 22 last year, the husband and wife had a quarrel over the loss of Ding’s mother’s “money in hand”. The depressed daughter Chen told her sister-in-law at 3:00 pm on the same month 25th that she was going to go shopping in the supermarket, but turned off the phone and took her daughter to the stage alone. From 10 am to 11 am on the 26th, Ms. Chen took her daughter into the sea, but both mother and daughter were pushed back to the beach by the waves. It wasn't until 4:00 in the afternoon that Chen Nv sent a message to Ding Nan that her daughter had died, and said, "I'm dying too."

Later, Ms. Chen told her where she was. Ding Nan, along with the police and sea patrol officers, found Ms. Chen crouching and hugging her daughter on the embankment at about 8:00 p.m. crime.

When the court was in session, Ms. Chen and her defenders argued that their daughter was accidentally tripped by the waves, and Ms. Chen was also tripped by the waves when she pulled her up and fainted for a while. Both the Miaoli District Court of the first instance and the Taichung Higher Branch Court of the second instance concluded in the legal autopsy reports that if it hadn’t been for Ms. Chen taking her daughter into the deep sea, the death would not have occurred, and Ms. Chen’s unreasonable deprivation of her daughter’s precious life seriously violated the protection of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. However, both the first and second trials considered that Ms. Chen had no criminal record, and she was forgiven by Ding Nan. In addition, Ms. Chen was currently in a state of suicide, and she was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the crime of intentional homicide of a child.

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal decision.
