On Tuesday, December 20, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, during a telephone conversation with Chinese leader

 Xi Jinping,

asked him to use his influence over Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine.

This is reported by CNN.

"I asked Xi to use his influence on Russia and to influence Putin in this sense," Steinmeier said in a statement.

The German president emphasized the "common interest of China and Europe in ending the war" under the condition of the withdrawal of Russian troops.

Steinmeier also thanked the head of China "for his clear rejection of nuclear threats from Russia."

The publication writes that in the conversation the head of Germany Mr

confirmed that Berlin will continue to support Ukraine.

At most, European countries will not back down from their actions because of Russian threats. 

Steinmeier also stated that Moscow's aggression strengthened Ukraine's defense capabilities and European cohesion.

"Putin fundamentally miscalculated," the German president said.

It will be recalled that the director of the CIA, William Burns, said that the

leader of China, Xi Jinping, is concerned about the failure of the large-scale invasion of the

Russian army in Ukraine.

He said it affects his plans for Taiwan and other countries.

after nine months of war, China is deepening relations with the Russian Federation

Xi Jinping instructed the government to establish closer economic relations with the Russian Federation, which may indicate that Beijing has finally decided to side with the Russian Federation.
