Safla Ekadashi fast story |

Saphala Ekadashi Vrat Katha

A king named Mahishman used to rule in Champavati city.

He had four sons.

Among them, the elder prince named Lumpak was a great sinner.

That sinner always used to destroy his father's wealth in adultery and prostitution and other bad deeds.

He always used to criticize the deities, Brahmins and Vaishnavas.

When the king came to know about such misdeeds of his elder son, he expelled him from his kingdom.

Then he started thinking where to go?

what to do

At last he decided to steal.

During the day he lived in the forest and at night he used to steal in his father's city and did the misdeeds of harassing and killing the people.

After some time the whole city got scared.

He started living in the forest after killing animals etc. and eating them.

Citizens and state employees would have caught him but left him out of fear of the king.

There was a very ancient huge Peepal tree in the forest.

People worshiped him like a god.

That great sinner Lumpak used to live under the same tree.

People used to consider this forest as the playground of the gods.

After some time, on the Dashami of Pausha Krishna Paksha, he could not sleep the whole night because of the cold, being without clothes.

His hands and feet became stiff.

By sunrise, he fainted.

On the second day, on Ekadashi, at mid-day, after getting the heat of the sun, his unconsciousness went away.

Falling down, he went out in search of food.

He was not able to kill the animals, so picked up the fruits that had fallen under the trees and came back under the same Peepal tree.

By that time Lord Surya had set.

After placing the fruit under the tree, he started saying - O God!

Now this fruit is your offering.

Be satisfied yourself.

Due to sorrow that night also I could not sleep.

God was very pleased with his fasting and awakening and all his sins were destroyed.

Next day morning a very beautiful horse decorated with many beautiful things came and stood in front of him.

At the same time there was a voice in the sky that O prince!

Your sins have been destroyed by the grace of Srinarayan.

Now go to your father and get the kingdom.

He was very happy to hear such a speech and wearing divine clothes, God bless you!

Saying this he went to his father.

His father was pleased and handed over the burden of the whole state to him and himself went on the way to the forest.

Now Lumpak started ruling according to the scriptures.

His wife, son etc. the whole family became the supreme devotee of Lord Narayan.

When he got old, he also handed over the burden of the state to his son and went to the forest to do penance and in the end he got Vaikunth.

In such a situation, the person who fasts on this most holy Safla Ekadashi gets liberation in the end.

Those who do not are like animals without tail and horns.

By reading or listening to the greatness of this Safla Ekadashi, man gets the fruit of Ashwamedha Yagya.
