Minister of State for Agriculture Shobha Karandlaje told news agency ANI, "We prepared several dishes including rotis and sweets made of jowar-bajra and ragi. Chefs were specially called from Karnataka for this. Enjoyed the meal."

Earlier, PM Modi today called upon all the BJP MPs to eat millets like millet in their diet and run a mass movement to promote its practice in the country as well.

The PM made this call in the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting.

The party's National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi, Union Ministers of State Arjun Ram Meghwal and V Muraleedharan were present in the meeting.

In the meeting, there was talk about the upcoming strategy of the party and the Prime Minister also asked the MPs to organize a sports competition.

The United Nations Federation has declared the International Millet Year from January next year.

It is believed that this is also one of the reasons for holding a feast of coarse grains in the Indian Parliament.

Coarse grains are produced on a large scale in India.

After the parliamentary party meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi told reporters that the PM told the MPs that 2023 would be celebrated as the International Year of Millets.

We can promote Poshan Abhiyaan with Millets...Lakhs of people will come to India for G-20 related events, meetings and programs, wherever possible, we will have some dishes made of Millets for them to eat.
