Rahul Gandhi has been questioned about the rift between Gehlot and Pilot since the entry of 'Bharat Jodo' Yatra in Rajasthan.

Jaipur:

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi reportedly met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his arch-rival Sachin Pilot on Monday in a bid to end the bitter feud between the two, leading to elections in the state next year. There may be loss to the party.

Coming out after a 'reconciliation meeting' with the two top leaders of Rajasthan at Circuit House in Alwar, Rahul Gandhi said, "Good news will come soon...", according to news agency ANI.

Rahul Gandhi was asked whether any kind of agreement has been reached between Gehlot and Pilot.

During the meeting which lasted for about 30 minutes, Congress leader K.C.

Venugopal were also present.

After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi left for the camp located in Alwar for his 'Bharat Jodo' tour.

Since entering Rajasthan, Rahul Gandhi has been questioned about the rift between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot during the 'Bharat Jodo' yatra.

A few days before the yatra was to reach Rajasthan, a tense situation had arisen for the Congress when the chief minister called his former deputy a 'traitor' in an exclusive interview to NDTV.

He had said, "A traitor can never become the chief minister... The high command can never make Sachin Pilot the chief minister, a person who doesn't even have 10 MLAs, who rebelled... He betrayed the party, He is a traitor..."

After this, Sachin Pilot hit back at the Rajasthan CM and said that it does not suit a senior leader to use such words, especially at a time when the party needs to put up a united front.

Stunned by the interview and the backlash, the Congress party, in an attempt at damage control, held a joint press conference of the two leaders, stating, "The party needs both leaders..."

After this, the rival parties attacked the Congress and Rahul Gandhi and suggested that instead of 'Bharat Jodo' Yatra, Rahul should take out 'Congress Jodo Yatra'.

The rift between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot came when both the leaders were contenders for the post of chief minister after the 2018 assembly elections.

After that the rift deepened in 2020, when Sachin Pilot revolted with 20 MLAs, and stayed with them in Delhi for several weeks.

The rebellion ended when the Gandhi family promised Sachin a change in government.

But the change never happened, because Gehlot was not ready to step down.

Since then this controversy has remained as it is.
