The general opinion of the presidents of the parliaments of Bulgaria and Turkey was that one of the important problems not only for both countries, but also for the whole of Europe, is the refugee crisis.

We know that Turkey takes care of nearly 4 million migrants on its land, noted Vezhdi Rashidov

Vezhdi Rashidov is a Bulgarian sculptor, Minister of Culture in Boyko's cabinet.

He emphasized that since there has been increased migratory pressure, the most reliable border in this area is the Bulgarian-Turkish border.

It is necessary to sit together and solve our common problem, this is a problem of Europe, added the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Before, migration was considered as a problem of the countries it affected, but it is now accepted as a global problem, mainly after the war between Ukraine and Russia, noted the chairman of the Grand National Assembly, Mustafa Shentop.

We discussed and agreed that an international forum on migration issues could be organized with the participation of the parliaments of other countries, he added.

We are glad that we have very good relations with friendly, allied and neighboring Bulgaria, noted Mustafa Sentop during the joint statement of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Bulgaria and Turkey.

There is a serious potential for the development of relations in the economy, culture, tourism, education and other spheres, he added.

The Speaker of the National Assembly told journalists after the meetings that the relations between Bulgaria and Turkey have been at an extremely good level for 10-15 years.

Many joint meetings of the governments were held, the cooperation between the individual ministries is also excellent, he added.

The Speaker of the National Assembly laid flowers at the Memorial to the victims of the coup attempt on July 15, 2016, in the designated area in the building of the Grand National Assembly.
