[Reporter Lin Huiqin/Taipei Report] The threat of emerging mutant strains of Wuhan pneumonia (new coronavirus disease, COVID-19) has not stopped. The Central Epidemic Command Center announced that BA. Excluding 4 cases of BA.2.75, 2 cases of BQ.1, 1 case of XBB, and 1 case of BF.7 were all repeated infections; in terms of overseas migration, unlike the previous BF.7, which were all from other countries, 1 new case of BF. The 7 cases were the first to be imported from China.

In terms of local cases, Luo Yijun, deputy head of the medical response team of the Central Epidemic Command Center, said that 50 new cases of virus sequencing have been completed, and 42 cases of BA.5 are still the bulk, including 24 males and 18 females. From 5 years old to over 90 years old, 32 cases were distributed in the north, 4 cases in the central area, 5 cases in the south, and 1 case in the east. The confirmed date was between November 3 and December 9 this year.

Luo Yijun pointed out that the rest were 4 cases of BA.2.75, 2 cases of BQ.1, 1 case of XBB, and 1 case of BF.7. Among them, 4 cases of BQ.1, XBB, and BF.7 were all repeated infections. There are both south and east, all of which are mild.

Although other emerging mutant strains have been detected sporadically, and BA.2.75 is more common, it has not yet reached 10%. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether it will become the next wave of mainstream strains.

In terms of overseas immigration, 24 new cases of virus sequencing have been completed, 19 cases of males and 5 cases of females, ranging from under 10 years old to over 60 years old, who entered the country from November 28 to December 10.

Among them, BA.5 accounted for 9 cases, 38% of which were 5 cases from Japan, 2 cases from Thailand, 1 case from China and the United States; 7 cases were from BA2.75, 4 cases from Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia and New Zealand 1 case each; BQ.1 accounted for 4 cases, 2 cases from Germany, 1 case each from Turkey and Italy; XBB accounted for 2 cases, 1 case each from Japan and New Zealand; BF.7 accounted for 1 case from China; BA. 2 accounted for 1 case from the Philippines.

Luo Yijun explained that although BA.5 is still the majority imported from abroad, the proportion is gradually decreasing. According to different sources in Asia or Europe and the United States, the detection of emerging mutant strains also fluctuates every week, indicating that the emerging mutant strains are not dominant or dominating. It is difficult to predict whether BQ.1 or BA.2.75 will overwhelm other virus strains in the future.

Luo Yijun mentioned that Europe and the United States have more BQ.1, but Japan and South Korea have increased BA.2.75, and continuous monitoring is still required. Fortunately, there are no reports that these mutant strains will cause severe illness or increase hospitalization, but the transmission rate is higher. , There is also a tendency for immune escape.

Luo Yijun also added that now that the epidemic in China is heating up, the outside world is concerned about whether there are new mutant strains appearing. The virus sequencing of 2 newly imported cases from China has been completed in China, 1 case is BF.7 and 1 case is BA.5. The mainstream virus strain in China, BF.7 is especially found around Beijing, and BA.5 is prevalent in most provinces, but no other new mutant strains have been found, and we will pay close attention to it.

At present, there are 3 cases of XBB, 2 cases of BF.7, 7 cases of BQ.1, and 11 cases of BA.2.75 detected in local cases; 21 cases of XBB and 6 cases of BF.7 were imported from abroad. , BQ.1 was 21 cases, BA.2.75 was 99 cases.
