Three Indian-origin Canadians have been killed in separate incidents in Canada since November.

Toronto:

A 40-year-old Sikh man has been accused of stabbing his wife to death in Canada's British Columbia province.

According to a Canadian police statement, Navinder Gill was charged last week with stabbing 40-year-old Harpreet Kaur Gill on December 7 in Surrey.

On December 7, the police took action in the whole matter and found Harpreet Kaur Gill lying injured due to multiple knife wounds at her house.

The police hurriedly took him to the hospital, where he died.

The official statement said that the accused, identified as the husband of the victim, was taken into custody at the spot as a suspect by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

But he was released a day later as the investigation continued.

He was re-arrested on December 15 by IHIT investigators with support from the Surrey Royal Canadian Mounted Police and charged with second-degree murder on December 16, according to the statement.

Significantly, since November, three Indian-origin Canadians have been killed in separate incidents in Canada.

On December 3, a 21-year-old Sikh woman, Pawanpreet Kaur, was shot dead in a 'targeted' attack in Ontario province.

On the same day, a 24-year-old Indian-origin Sikh man was shot dead in Canada's Alberta province.

In November, Mehakpreet Sethi, an 18-year-old Indian-origin teenager, was stabbed to death in a high school parking lot in the province of British Columbia.
