South Korea's "Sky Sword" air-to-ground missile has been successfully developed, becoming a new generation of tank killers.

[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] South Korea's Defense Agency announced today (19th) that the "Sky Sword" air-to-ground missile, which cost 180 billion won (approximately NT$4.26 billion), has been successfully developed and will be installed in the country's light-weight missiles in the future. Aboard the attack helicopter and become a new generation tank killer.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Tianjian missile, developed by South Korea's Defense Science Research Institute over seven years, passed the combat adaptability assessment on the 12th of this month.

The missile has a fire-and-forget capability, but operators can also retarget after launch.

The Tianjian missile will work with South Korea's nationally-built Light Attack Helicopter (LAH) program, which authorities only recently approved for mass production to replace the aging 500MD Defender and AH-1 Super Cobra helicopters.

In addition, the Defense Agency is also evaluating the possibility of modifying the Tianjian missile into a ground-to-ground version so that it can be installed on main battle tanks, armored vehicles and other ground-based launch platforms.
