conducted by the sociological group "Rating", in 2022, more Ukrainians supported the idea of ​​moving the celebration of Christmas to December 25.

If last year,

only

26% of respondents were in favor, now

44% of Ukrainians

support this idea .

At the same time,

31% of respondents are against the postponement of the celebration

(58% in 2021),

23% of respondents answered that they do not care

about this issue, and

2% could not answer

The number of Ukrainians who celebrate Christmas on December 25 has also increased over the past year — 11% (in 2021 it was 4%), and those who celebrate this great church holiday on both dates (from 18% to 25%).

55% of respondents will celebrate Christmas on January 7 (ie, according to the Julian calendar) this year (71% in 2021).

8% of Ukrainians do not celebrate Christmas at all.

The younger respondents, residents of Kyiv and the western regions of Ukraine, Greek Catholics spoke most often about the double celebration of Christmas (December 25 and January 7) and about moving the date of the celebration to December 25.

Thus, more than half of the respondents in Kyiv and western regions support the idea of ​​celebrating Christmas on December 25.

A relative majority is not against moving the date of the celebration in the central regions of the country as well (44%).

Greek Catholics strongly support this idea.

Almost half (46%) of the surveyed parishioners of PFU agree to move the date of the celebration to December 25, a third remain against it.

On the other hand, the majority of residents of the eastern and southern regions (except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas, as well as territories where there is no Ukrainian mobile communication at the time of the survey) did not support the idea of ​​celebrating Christmas on December 25.

If we talk about the age division, the most contradictions can be seen in the older and middle age groups, although here the relative majority is "in favor" of moving the date (40%).

At least a third of older and middle-aged Ukrainians are against celebrating December 25.

Among young people, the figures are as follows: a third are in favor, a third do not want to postpone the date, and another third of the younger respondents answered that they don't care.

The sociological group "Rating" conducted a survey on November 20-21, 2022.

A thousand respondents over the age of 18 in all regions of Ukraine were able to take part in it (except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas, as well as territories where there is no Ukrainian mobile connection at the time of the survey).

The sample is representative in terms of age, gender and type of settlement.

The error of representativeness of the study with a confidence probability of 0.95: no more than 3.1%.
