Chargé d'affaires of Chile in Azerbaijan Fidel Coloma met with the ambassadors of the countries newly assigned to Azerbaijan - France, Argentina and Mexico.

APA reports that the ambassadors of Poland, Pakistan, and Jordan, as well as the head of the UN Mission in Azerbaijan, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the diplomats of France, Argentina and Chile shared their views on gender equality, problems in this field and global cooperation.

The newly appointed ambassador of France to Azerbaijan, Ann Bouillon, emphasized that her country is committed to feminist foreign diplomacy.

"This means two things.

First, the wide participation and empowerment of women in the diplomatic field, the appointment of more female ambassadors.

Another issue is gender issues in general, which is one of the important elements of our foreign policy, and our goal is to work closely with other countries in this direction.

In this sense, I hope to actively work in this direction in Azerbaijan and to cooperate with our friends in the UN and the EU, as well as with local non-governmental organizations.

We are already helping in this direction, implementing projects.

Last week, I visited the women's center in Barda with the representatives of the UN Mission in Azerbaijan and my Dutch colleague.

I see that work is being done to empower women in Azerbaijan, especially in the regions.

Fidel Coloma, Chargé d'affaires of Chile in Azerbaijan, said that the advancement and empowerment of women in various fields is a broad topic: "Violence and poverty are the biggest problems faced by women.

This is a global issue.

I think that it is not difficult to cooperate with other countries in this field, including Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan has institutions working on this issue, with which we can contact and cooperate, and work together in the field of fighting against poverty and violence.

These two problems are the main problems faced by women and there is a global consensus towards their elimination.

And we will continue to work with the government of Azerbaijan in this field."

Regarding the activities of women in the diplomatic field, the Chilean diplomat noted that Azerbaijan is moving in this direction: "I believe that over time there will be more female diplomats.

The process may be slow, but it is moving forward.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan is working on the appointment of female ambassadors.

For example, we saw one of the last such important steps in the appointment of Azerbaijan's ambassador to France.

The newly appointed ambassador of Argentina to Azerbaijan, Mariangeles Bellushi, said that as time passes, the participation of women in diplomacy is increasing: "The number of female employees in our Ministry is large.

It is true that we see more men in the positions of ambassador or chargé d'affaires, but I think that slowly a change is taking place in this area, a balance is already being created."
