The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said today that the barricades in the northern part of Kosovo will not be able to remain for long, and that the Kosovo authorities are in communication with the NATO mission in the country (KFOR), informed the Kosovo edition "Koha ditore". .

Kurti added that Kosovo's Minister of Internal Affairs, Djelal Svechlia, is in Kosovska Mitrovica every day and is in constant contact with the KFOR command regarding the barricades.

KFOR asked a little more time from us, so we are coordinating, intensively communicating with KFOR, and obviously they will not be able to tolerate such barricades for long, Kurti pointed out.

Regarding Serbia's demand for the return of up to 1,000 Serbian army and police members to Kosovo, Kurti said the demand was unrealistic and an expression of helplessness.

In his words, "there was never a need for Serbian soldiers in Kosovo" and NATO will be against this request.

The EU and the US have called for restraint in Kosovo and Serbia

Northern Kosovo remains blocked, and Kosovo Serbs are at the barricades in the municipalities of Zvechan, Zubin Potok and Leposavich for the tenth day in a row.

The demands of the Serbs at the barricades are to release their arrested Kosovo Serbs - former policemen Dejan Pantic and Sladjan Trajkovic.

Tensions between Kosovo and Serbia have been particularly high in recent months.

The crisis began with the decision of the government in Pristina to change the Serbian license plates on the cars of Kosovo Serbs to Kosovo ones.

Although, after negotiations and compromise, Pristina gave up on this for the time being, Serbian representatives left the Kosovo institutions and police forces, and units of the Kosovo police moved into predominantly Serb areas.
