A Thai Navy ship sank in a storm in the Gulf of Thailand late Sunday night.

Several media reports that 10 missing persons have been found and one dead have been denied by the navy.

It turned out that more than one ship sank during the storm.

It is reported that the servicemen who survived and were found by the patrol boat were members of the cargo ship's crew.

HTMS Sukhothai, a Rattanakosin-class corvette, sank in a storm off the coast of Prachuapkhiri Khan.

The corvette was on patrol about 20 nautical miles off the coast of Bang Saphan district of Prachuapkhiri Khan province.

During the storm, she was hit by high waves, listed about 60 degrees to starboard, and seawater poured into the ship.

A Navy statement and a Thai government statement released at 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, put the number of rescued officers at 75 out of 106 on board, with 31 servicemen still missing as of noon.

However, it later became known that 10 crew members of the missing ship were found and rescued from the sea by the Pattaravarin 88 patrol boat, but one soldier died.

Sukhothai was operated for almost 36 years.

It was equipped for air defense, naval combat and anti-submarine operations.

According to the Thai Navy, more than one ship sank during the storm.

Details of the other vessel are unknown.

According to The Bangkok Post, it was the cargo Anuphum.
