Concerns have been expressed in Germany regarding the first visit of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to Belarus in three years.
This was discussed at a briefing by the spokesman of the German federal government, Steffen Gebeshreit, Ukrinform reports.
So Germany will follow the results of Putin's visit to the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.
According to the spokesman, the German authorities are fully aware that Putin is visiting Belarus for the first time in three years, so there is concern about what may be connected with this visit: whether the role of Belarus in Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine will once again change, or not it will be modified.
The spokesman added that currently everyone can see that Belarus is at least providing assistance to the Russian military, in particular by providing its airspace and ground bases.
"Of course, aid to Belarus to the Russian army can increase," he said.
At the same time, the spokesman urged to wait for the results and not to draw conclusions in advance.
Gebeshreit recalled that Scholz in his recent interview spoke not only about differences of opinion with Russia over the past ten months, but also about "global differences on fundamental issues."
It will be recalled that the Russian and Belarusian dictators met in Minsk on December 19.
So far, it is known that Lukashenko called for a "dialogue with the West".
It should be noted that the President of the Russian Federation came to Minsk for the first time since 2019.
