The winners of the national selection for Eurovision 2023, the band

TVORCHI

shared the story of writing the song Heart of Steel, with which they will represent Ukraine at the song contest in Liverpool.

As the musicians told in an exclusive

interview with

TSN.ua, they were inspired to write the composition by the events that took place in the spring at "Azovstal" in Mariupol.

"We wrote a lot of material during the period of the full-scale invasion. This song was born in the spring, at the time when the events at Azovstal were taking place. We, like all Ukrainians, were in the news media, and came across a video of our defenders who were on "Azovstali" - Denys Prokopenko, Kalina. I couldn't imagine how hard it is for them there and probably it seems like it's the end, but in their eyes I saw fire, willpower and indomitability. It gave me goosebumps . Under these emotions, I wrote this song," shared TVORCHI band member Andria Hutsuliak.

According to the band members, every Ukrainian has a heart of steel and can be an example for the whole world in this difficult time.

"All Ukrainians should have steel hearts and the whole world should take an example from us and unite against evil for the sake of peace," Hutsuliak added.
