Currently, there are about 500 armed Russian occupiers on the territory of the Zaporizhzhya NPP.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said this in an interview with the French TV channels TF1 and LCI.

"There are 500 militants there (on the territory of the ZNPP. - Ed.), they have explosives, they are all armed, they give out food and water by the hour to the technical staff. The station is not working. Could there be an explosion? It depends on the people inside. I think everything depends on these 500 fighters," the head of state said.

The president also answered journalists' questions about whether the Russian Federation is ready to use nuclear weapons.

"This is weakness. The use of nuclear weapons in our time, no joke, is a serious issue, speaks of inadequacy and weakness. This is the third world war. This is millions of victims. This is the transformation into ruins of one or another city, state and world. This is a complete inadequacy, these are people with sick heads. These are inadequate people, they need to see a doctor," Zelenskyi believes.

This opinion was supported by military expert Roman Svitan.

On December 13, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the existence of an agreement on the withdrawal of weapons from the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

He said that negotiations are currently underway regarding the terms of the withdrawal.

On the same day, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal clarified that there are no "specifics" regarding the release of the ZNPP yet.
