At noon on December 18, groups of Serbian far-rights arrived in Jarinje, where the border crossing between Serbia and the partially recognized Kosovo is located, which the official Belgrade does not recognize as an independent state and considers it part of its country.

The demonstration began at the call of the leader of the community "Narodna patrola"

Damian Knezhevych

.

Representatives of the Dveri organization and the Serbian Radical Party, pro-Serbian far-rights from Montenegro and parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina — Republika Srpska — came.

They chanted slogans against the existence of border crossings and demanded that Kosovo be returned to Serbia.

The action is held in support of the Kosovo Serbs.

The crowd of several dozen people was stopped by the Serbian police in Jarinja.

On the other side of the border, on the Kosovar side, the forces of KFOR, NATO's peacekeeping forces in Kosovo, are gathering.

Tensions on the border between Serbia and Kosovo increased again on December 10, when barricades appeared on the roads.

Serbs, who mostly live in the north of Kosovo, oppose the re-registration of car number plates from the old Serbian ones to common "Albanian" Kosovar ones, and also protest against, in their opinion, discrimination against Serbs in the Kosovo police and other state bodies.

At the beginning of November, Serbs began to leave Kosovo's departments and bodies en masse as a sign of protest against the actions of the Kosovar Albanians.

The "Narodna patrola" community represents part of the far-right forces of Serbia, its representatives openly glorify Serbian war criminals, oppose migrants, supported Russia's war against Ukraine and this year met with representatives of the Russian private military company "Wagner".

They hope that Russia will help Serbia to return Kosovo and solve other problematic issues in the Balkans.

Lista Serbe, the main party of Serbs in Kosovo, said that the visit of Kosovo Interior Minister

Djejal Svechla

to the border crossing point between Kosovo and Serbia Bernjak is "a provocation aimed at escalating the situation on the ground".

Before that, he said that the Kosovo police "have all the possibilities to remove the barricades", but for now they are "assessing the situation".
