Advisor to the President's Office, Oleksiy Arestovich, confirmed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine really tried to eliminate the Chief of the General Staff of Russia, Valery Gerasimov, when he came to Izyum.

He told Russian human rights defender Mark Feigin about this.

According to Arestovych, Gerasimov dared to come to Izyum of the Kharkiv region approximately at the end of April - in May.

The Armed Forces learned about this and tried to eliminate the occupier.

The headquarters in which the Russian leadership was located was completely destroyed, but unfortunately, Gerasimov managed to leave.

"A sufficient number of senior officers, guards and so on died there even without Gerasimov. But he managed to leave a little earlier. They didn't have time," Arestovich explained.

The attempt to eliminate Gerasimov in Ukraine: what is known

The day before, the NYT reported that the White House tried to convince the Ukrainian leadership not to liquidate Valery Gerasimov when he came to Ukraine.

The USA decided not to inform Ukraine that Gerasimov had come to the occupied territories because they were afraid that they might try to eliminate him.

However, the Ukrainian military, without the help of the White House, found out about this and fired at the headquarters of the occupying army.

Then, according to official data,

dozens of Russian soldiers died as a result of the strike, Gerasimov was not one of them.

After that, Russian military leaders reduced their visits to the front line.

It should be noted that Russian propagandists reported that Gerasimov had arrived in Ukraine on April 28.
