[Reporter Huang Mingtang/Taitung Report] The election of the chairman and deputy speaker of the Taitung County Council has gradually become clear after all parties have competed.

The Central Party Committee of the Kuomintang has nominated the current speaker Wu Xiuhua and the deputy speaker Lin Conghan to continue to partner, and the probability of passing the test is high.

Although the Democratic Progressive Party has only 2 seats, it also nominated Huang Zhiwei and Jian Weiguo as partners, and strived for cooperation without party membership.

In the election of the chairman and deputy speaker of Taitung County, it was reported earlier that several groups of people were interested in competing. In addition to the current combination of Wu Xiuhua and Lin Conghan, Taitung Mayor Zhang Guozhou, former deputy speaker Chen Hongzong, and senior councilor Chen Zhifeng were all willing. Pan Guilan is more active in seeking support from all parties, and wants to reach a higher level immediately.

However, the Central Committee of the Kuomintang nominated the incumbents Wu Xiuhua and Lin Conghan yesterday for re-election, and ordered the local party committees to do their best to support the election.

The Taitung County Council has 30 county councilors. The result of this election is 18 seats for the KMT, 10 seats for non-party members, and 2 seats for the DPP.

The Kuomintang has an advantage in seats, and the party nomination plus registered ballot, and there are 13 aborigines members supporting it. It is generally expected that Wu Linpei will pass the test smoothly.

A few days ago, the DPP’s local party branch decided to nominate the elected party member Huang Zhiwei and Jian Weiguo as the deputy speaker.

Huang Zhiwei said that although the DPP only has 2 county councilors and is still a long way from the 16-seat threshold for election, it will actively strive to cooperate with 10 non-party members in the next few days, "I believe there will be good results."

Democratic Progressive Party Taitung Xinke Member Jian Weiguo will run for vice speaker.
