On the night of December 17 , a gas explosion occurred in an apartment building in

Minsk

, the capital of Belarus .

According to preliminary data, six people died, including a child.  

This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Belarus.

It is known that the explosion occurred in a residential building on Shevchenko Boulevard around 03:30 at night.

By the time rescuers arrived, two apartments were already on fire.

Thick smoke formed in the building and reached the upper floors.

Rescuers evacuated more than 20 residents.
