On December 15, the US Senate approved a bill with a record $858 billion defense budget for 2023.

The document was sent to President

Joe Biden

for signature .

The Hill writes about it.

The document provides for a defense allocation of $45 billion more than the budget provided by Biden, which his administration submitted in an official request to Congress.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed with an overwhelming bipartisan majority: 83 votes in favor and 11 votes against.

The defense budget includes $817 billion for the Department of Defense and $30 billion for the Department of Energy, it said.

The draft law also provides for military assistance to other countries.

In particular, 800 million dollars is intended for Ukraine.

It is also assumed that 6 billion dollars will go to the European Deterrence Initiative, which was launched in 2014 after the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation.

The new document also records the extension of the ban on cooperation between the US and the aggressor Russia in the military sphere for five years.

Now the project must be signed by US President Joe Biden.

It will be recalled that two American lawmakers, who head an independent governmental human rights organization, presented a resolution

calling on President Joe Biden to withdraw Russia from the UN Security Council.

The text emphasizes that violations of the UN Charter call into question Russia's right to permanent membership in the Security Council.
