The government of Serbia will send a request to the NATO peacekeeping contingent KFOR, in which it will ask for permission to enter Serbian troops into the territory of

Kosovo

.

This was stated by the country's president, Alexander Vuchich, during an interview,

RTS

reports .

He said that the request will first be sent in the form of an e-mail to the KFOR command, and on December 16 it will be handed over at the border of Kosovo and Serbia.

Vučić says he wants to deploy troops to protect the Serbian population of the region, as well as to control the Jarinje and Brnjak border crossings.

The President of Serbia is sure that such a step will serve to ease tensions and will be a good decision.

At the same time, Vucic stated that he understands that such a request is unlikely to be satisfied: "not because it will be bad, because if they thought better, it would contribute to peace", but because, according to him, the international community does not comply international agreements.

We will remind, earlier it was reported that the government of Kosovo has officially

submitted an application for joining the European Union

.

In addition, we previously informed that the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Gabriel Escobar advised Serbia and Kosovo

to "quickly resolve the disputed issues" for the sake of unification with the EU.
