The Council of the EU finally approved today the new sanctions against Russia imposed because of the war in Ukraine.

Another set of sanctions provides for the withdrawal of the distribution licenses of four more Russian media - NTV, Russia 1, REN TV and First Channel.

It is planned that the programs will remain unavailable in the EU on air and on the Internet, including through applications for mobile devices, the press center of the European Commission reports.

It is explained that the measure is imposed as a means of preventing the Russian Federation's constant international campaign of disinformation and manipulation of information aimed at destabilizing neighboring countries and EU countries.

It is added that the media in question are under the constant control of Moscow and have been used for continuous and concerted actions of disinformation and military propaganda, with which the Russian attack on Ukraine is justified.

Additional measures are introduced against the export of dual-use goods and technology, or which may contribute to the technological improvement of Russia's defense and security.

The list of sanctioned persons linked to the Russian military and industrial complex is being expanded by the inclusion of another 168 entities.

Important chemical and nerve agents, night vision and radio navigation equipment, electronics and high-tech parts that could be used in Russian military production are intended not to be freely traded.

The EU is extending a ban on exports of aviation and space-related goods and technology, with new sanctions affecting aircraft engines and engine parts.

This ban will apply to manned and unmanned aircraft, meaning from now on a ban on the direct export of drone engines to Russia and any other country that might supply drones to Russia, the statement said.

The EU Council notes that no measures have been taken on trade in agricultural and food products, including wheat and fertilizers, between non-EU countries and Russia.

An exception is introduced to return access to seized property to organizations with a significant role in international trade in agricultural and food commodities, including wheat and fertilizers.

The EC presented a proposal for more sanctions against Moscow

The EU freezes the assets of two more Russian banks and adds the Russian Regional Development Bank to the list of those subject to a complete ban on transactions.

A ban on the provision of EU advertising, market and public opinion research services to Russia is introduced.

The EU will extend the ban on new investments in Russian energy, except for coal mining and important raw materials.

From today, EU citizens will be banned from holding positions in the management of all Russian state or state-controlled organizations located in Russia.
