The European Union officially approved the ninth package of sanctions against the aggressor of the Russian Federation.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced this on December 16.

The head of the European Commission emphasized that she welcomes the agreements on the ninth package of restrictions concerning Moscow.

It refers, in particular, to technology, finance, and Russian means of mass propaganda.

"It focuses on technology, finance and media to further derail the Russian economy and military machine. It provides for sanctions against nearly 200 individuals and organizations involved in attacks on civilians and abduction of children," Von der Leyen said.

In turn, the head of the president's office, Andriy Yermak, noted that 168 Russian companies were subject to EU restrictions.

"First of all, the military-industrial, mining and energy sectors," he added.
